Flakes or dander in the fleece

Occasionally we see fleeces at our mill that have dander or flakes. This is virtually impossible to remove, and makes the end product less desirable or unusable. It seems to be the result of stressed sheep. More often it is evident in the fall shearing after a summer of heat or draught stress. Byron and Monica DeLoach of Small Meadow Farm have experienced success in reducing this phenomenon by supplementing their sheep’s diet with Vitamin E and Selenium. Contact Byron and Monica
